The MAGIC project challenges the way that rainwater is managed across the UK, arguing that the current technocratic approach misses a vital opportunity to engage communities in the management of water.

We believe in the social, economic, and environmental merits of an alternative approach, which encourages ordinary people and businesses to make a number of small-scale, distributed changes to the way that they use and manage water. Rather than treating water as something that is subject to the control of specialist engineers, such interventions work at the level of ‘everyday’ practices and understandings, involving ordinary people in water management as a novel form of climate change adaptation.
